Cap
The cap ring is decorated with his signature, 'A Study in Scarlet' logo, and the publication date of 'The Captain of the Pole Star': January, 1883.
Top of the Cap
The cap top ring is decorated with 'CAME OF AGE AT 80° NORTH LATITUDE' - words written by him in his diaries when he was 21 years old and halfway through his voyage. The emblem is in diamond pavé surrounded in Au750 solid white gold.
Clip
The clip features a movable magnifying glass and his initials found on the stained glass windows in Undershaw. A single sapphire adorns the clip.
Design
The overall design with the 3D icebergs and blue lacquer is inspired by the icy waters of the Arctic. A. C. Doyle spent 6 months as a physician on a sailing ship. This creation is made of Au750 solid white gold and translucent lacquer.
Cone
The cone is decorated with the engraving 'September 11th. - Lat 81°N.; long. 2°.' from the story of 'The Captain and the Pole Star', telling of enormous ice fields.
Feather
The 8Au750 solid white gold nib is decorated with his face and a ship's mast from 'The Captain of the Pole Star'.
Limitation
The number 8 is considered a lucky number. It also reflects the regular pattern written in the nib atelier with every nib before it is released.
