Miyamoto Musashi (1584-1645) was a philosopher, artist and warrior and is regarded as a great samurai. He was the founder of the Niten-Ichi-Ryū-School and similar named martial art style.In The Book of Five Rings he is dealing with his specific style of swordmanship and its significance.

Cap
The five rings on the cap are set with 190 diamonds in brilliant (~ 0,86 ct.).
Top of the Cap
The emblem is made of mother-of-pearl.
Clip
The artistically modelled clip refers to a samurai sword, which Musashi could wield better than any other swordsmen.
Design
The shape of this precious writing instrument, made of Au750 solid gold and covered with precious china lacquer, is referring to the pattern of a samurai sword-shaft. The barrel is engraved with a kanji of the 5 elements. The five rings are recalling the five kanji characters which are also engraved on the barrel.
Cone
The bottom of the cone is enriched by the symbol for his own sword.
Feather
The Au750 gold nib is enriched by two swords.
Limitation
Limited to 77 pieces to commemorate the seven virtues of the samurai.
