There is hardly another occurrence that has had such a significant impact on the cultural history of modern times as the invention of the book printing press by Johannes Gutenberg (1400-1468). With producing identical leaden letters, around 1450, he made the duplication of the written word possible, which had a big impact on the rapid dissemination of knowledge manifesting the transition from the late Middle Ages to the Modern Age. The first book Gutenberg undertook to print was one of the most important works in cultural history: the Gutenberg Bible.
