History

James Byron Dean (1931 – 1955) was an American actor and a cultural icon of teenage disillusionment and social estrangement, as exemplified by the title of his most celebrated film, "Rebel Without a Cause" (1955), in which he starred as troubled teenager Jim Stark. This edition features a red precious resin cap and barrel in reference to the red leather jacket worn by Dean in the film, while the pattern is inspired by the jeans he wore. The clip is a gun which pays tribute to his famous scene in the 1956 film "Giant". The cap ring is engraved with one of James Dean's most famous quotes: "Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today." The cone features an engraving of the coordinates of the James Dean Memorial.

An inlay on the cap is inspired by the pattern of a bullet. One of his most famous quotes, ‘Dream as if you’ll live forever. Live as if you’ll die today,‘ is engraved on the cap ring.

A further, legendary film scene from 'East of Eden' is immortalised by an engraving of the pattern of a dollar bill on the platinum-coated cap top, with Montblanc emblem in precious resin.

The Editions commemorate James Dean’s third and last movie with the shape of the ruthenium-coated clip as a reference to the gun that Jett Rink, alias James Dean, carried on his shoulders in one of his most famous scenes.
Design
The overall design is inspired by one of James Dean's most famous film 'Rebel Without a Cause'. The red precious resin of the cap and barrel is a reference to the vibrant colour of Dean’s red jacket in this movie. The pattern recalls the structure of a jeans, a garment often worn by Dean in his films.
