Frida Kahlo was considered as one of Mexico's greatest artist, painting mostly self-portraits. Kahlo's works reflect the pain she had to go through after a severe accident and are admired for their intense, vibrant colours. Married to Diego Rivera she became not only recognised for her art but also as an icon for feminism.

The skeletonised cap is inspired by her famous paintings.
Top of the Cap
The emblem is made of mother-of-pearl.
Clip
The clip is enriched with a dark red Mozambique garnet in heard shape (~0,81 ct.) which reflects passion and pain.
Design
The design is deeply influenced by the indigenous Mexican culture, which is apparent in her use of bright colours and dramatic symbols. The cobalt blue colour of the translucent lacquer with filigree guilloche on the barrel reminds of her house in Coyoacán in Mexico City. The skeletonised piece is made of Au750 solid champagne-tone gold.

The engravings on the cone are based on typical Mexican patterns.
Feather
The Au750 solid gold nib is enriched by her portrait, surrounded by Mexican ornaments.
