Charlie Chaplin, born 1889 in London, was a British actor and one of the biggest stars in the silent-film era of the 1920s. His first piece Tramp (1915) made him a superstar. While Modern Times was still published as a silent-film in 1936, he rather late opened up to the sound-film with The Great Dictator in 1940.

Top of the Cap

The edition is Inspired by the film Modern Times (1936), in which Chaplin slipped in the role of a tramp. The intricate cogwheels on cap and barrel, appearing to drive one another, symbolise the industrial machinations featured in Modern Times. The writing instrument is made of Au750 solid white gold and black precious lacquer. The barrel is set with several diamonds (~0,18 ct.).
Cone
The cone is inspired by his baggy trousers and splayed feet, clad in oversized shoes.
Feather
The platinum-coated Au750 solid gold nib is decorated with his bowler hat, his walking cane and shoes.
Limitation
The limitation is referring to his age of 88 years when he died in 1977.
