Caspar David Friedrich (1774–1840) is a German well-known Romatic painter. He is known for his allegorical landscapes showing contemplative figures silhouetted against night skies, morning mists, barren trees and Gothic ruins.

The cap, which is made of white agate stone, is influenced by the impression of the distance and the perspectives which are part of many of Friedrich’s paintings.

The clip is made of Au750 solid white gold, set with diamonds.
Design
The design is inspired by his landscape paintings. The barrel with precious lacquer inlays is referring to the Gothic style of the late medieval times. The cone, cap, clip and the Montblanc emblem are enriched with 143 diamonds in brilliant cut (~1,338 ct.). The writing instrument is made of Au750 solid white gold.

The rhodium-coated Au750 solid gold nib is enriched by a scene from the painting Wanderer aboce the sea of fog - which is Friedrich's most famous painting.
