How to Clean and Maintain Your Montblanc

When changing ink colors or noticing irregular flow, clean the system with clean room-temperature water until the water runs clear. For a piston pen, aspirate and expel water repeatedly without forcing the mechanism.

Avoid hot water, alcohol, solvents, and household cleaners: they can damage resins, seals, and finishes. Permanent or pigmented inks require attention to the manufacturer’s recommendations for both the pen and the ink.

Close the cap after writing to reduce drying in the nib. If the pen will be unused for a long time, empty, clean, and let it dry completely before storing.

Protect the pen from heat, direct sunlight, extreme humidity, and friction with keys or other metals. An individual case reduces risks during transport, but it should also be clean and dry.

Heavy piston, persistent leakage, cracks, damaged nib, or flow that doesn’t improve after cleaning require professional evaluation. Forcing a stuck pen often turns simple maintenance into expensive repair.

Keep service orders and record replaced components. This history improves future care and provides transparency regarding the pen’s origin.
